What's wrong with New Orleans? It used to be more-or-less OK, except for those stoopid "hurricanes" full of Red #5 they serve at that outside bar, instead of real vodka. But it's been going downhill ever since Pepe has set foot. Is this a coincidence? Hmmm....

It hasn't been ok since about 1946.

It isn't just New Orleans: it's an american thing.

I was in Nawlins in the early 2000s -- French Quarter looked more-or-less OK, though far less interesting than all the hype you hear about it. Rest was desolate and rather junky-looking. From what I hear and see, it's been going downhill ever since.

tec, the fq is a tourist zone. it was "ok" then, it's "ok" now. the rest wasn't "junky" in 2000 and it isn't now - at least it isn't in many parts: have you been on Prytania in the LGD ? In mid-city ? on St chuck ? or is it that by "junky" you mean it wasn't built on the drab standardized suburban moulding that befalls all construction in the us?
