awful and not surprising in the absence of a "non assistance a personne en danger" law. There was an even worse case 10 years ago when this guy rapes & kills an 8 year old in a bathroom, in front of his buddy (and a CCTV). The buddy, David Cash, a Berkeley nuclear engineering undergrad didn't intervene and said it wasn't in his ethics to rat on a friend. The DA couldn't pin anything on the son of a bitch and he continued his studies.
I am not so sure the token booth guy could have done anything. In that case the judge was right to throw the lawsuit out.
Token guy does say he called 911 and if the rapist was armed, what the heck is he going out there to do, get shot? Tough shit girl, It's you out alone in Queens at 2 a.m.
A law about non assistance a personne is senseless if the jury is.
"He goes against everything that the university stands for.'' But student-body president Irami Osei-Frimpong vetoed the bill, saying the government had no right to condemn Cash. The senate's inaction prompted an angry letter from Black Board, a coalition of African-American groups, charging that the university and student government applied a racist double standard to the case. ""We believe that if the little girl had been white, and Cash and Strohmeyer black, Cash would not be allowed to return to Berkeley,''
Hilarious. The schwartzes can always turn it so that you disagree with them.
Anyway, I am surprised no one kicked this fucker to death while the plainclothesmen were 'not looking'. Also, why the hell should we have been wasting taxpayer money to defend this animal?
There is no place on earth more legalistic than california. in the civilized world, the son of a bitch would have long died of some regrettable accident and none of the plainclothesmen would have seen anything. I wonder if the little worm graduated and what he's up to now. Surely, his not being guilty of anything doesn't mean anyone will ever want to give him a job.
Mr Rot, reading is essential: The too-booth idiot did not call 911. In fact, they don't have an outside line in those stoopid booths, and they're proud of it. NYC is a jungle. Darwinian to the hilt.
he didn't even tell him to stop. The guy is a chicken shit: unless he had a weapon in his face, he should have interfered. If someone spills water in my gallery and someone else slips and falls, I would be liable, even if I wasn't aware of the spill or didn't have time to act on it. I can't imagine why it's any different for the RTA.

Reading is essential:
"He immediately alerted the emergency system - that's all we are empowered to do."
