I'd read the law, AA. The salient part is FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS 21 STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS 22 UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, 23 WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE 24 PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT 25 PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c).26
which itself needs a bit of explaining. For example, exactly does "lawful contact" mean? I have answered that for myself, looking around for descriptions of the idea unconnected to this legal discussion, because I view it all as polluted by people supporting or opposed to this law. There's a definition at the other thread.
I also saw in some testimony by PA highway patrol that LC can be trumped up for anything, so there is no "if" in the theorem above.
C;mon, AA, you want Rot to actually read a law before bloviating on it? That's too much to ask. If you want a learned comment on it, I recommend this piece, by the guy who essentially wrote it.
I saw Kobach arguing on the O'Reilly show (with Juan Williams subbin for Billo) against Linda Chavez, who took the predictably Rotten line. Kris Kobach was no match for her. But then again, "Constitution-worship" is a derogatory term in the Rotter lexicon.
Pepean non-sequiturs make a comeback, with Rot really hitting the nail on the head with a wet noodle. Day at the office in Rotland (or is it Pepea? who can tell?)
In the meantime, yet another Constitution-worshipper (or is it corpse-chewer? I get confused sometimes with Herr Rot's lexicon) strikes at the Rotten dogma.
Not sure who you refer to -- Kobach or Garcia. But, if you bothered to click on links (or read what I wrote), Kobach is a Law Prof, and he essentially wrote the law that you contend is Nazi-like, or whatever is the latest pejorative used in Pinkoland. I take note that you don't even try to argue with what Kobach writes in his NYT piece, but argue instead about punctuation.
As for Garcia, no, he's not a lawyer, but rather, a former Commander and aviator in the United States Navy running in Florida's 24th congressional district, [who] has become the first congressional candidate to propose federal legislation that would implement the recently passed Arizona immigration laws nationwide. Goebbels, no doubt.
Usual Rotten non-sequitur. And, of course, you cherry-picked your poll: The TPM Poll Average gives McCain a lead of 49.2%-38.2% in the Republican primary, putting the incumbent just below 50% support. Of course McCain would be in the lead -- he's the friggin' incumbent, after all. How would that prove that anyone challenging him is "out of the mainstream"? Only in Pepean Logic, which has now morphed seamlessly into Rotten Logik. \Simeq.
And of course, Rot cannot be bothered to read the Ley General de Población, to see how things get really done when one sets its mind to it. But hey, why bother with facts, when one can simply call anyone who does not toe the Pinko Party Line an out-of-the-mainstream Nazi?

That is what worries people and it should.

Awesome! Second character in your comment is a typo (or legit misspelling?).
Is this a new record?

This guy some kind of lawyer or just some guy that agrees with you?

I read Garcia. Unf I am super busy because the lokaln here are moving me from one place to another place tomorrow morning...
Blurb. Of course, Rot likes Top Gun pilots in Congress only if they are like 85 year old, and suitably buddy-buddy with Pepea.
You're hero JD's up to 28% today, Tecs. Shows you're out of the mainstream.

Incumbents are always ahead. Another Nobel for Tecs!
This is nothing compared to the AZ Gestapo.
