A Directive From the Party

Now, Komrads, as the Kapitalist System of the hated Bourgeoisie collapses-- through the brilliant application of The 6th 5 year Plan for the Destabilization of The United States of Amerikkka, led by Inner Party Komrads Soros and Obama-- we have here a New Directive for the proper Revolutionary term to this phenomenon of the material dialectic: to be implemented immediately.
Eliminate: "Collapse after the implementation of New Socialist Policy"
Replace with: "Bush Crash"

All future communiques and announcements through the Party Organs [MSM or official State institutes] will adhere strictly to this Directive. Failure to comply will be well noted.

The enemy of free thinking is any absolutist ideology or theology; or any absolutism that even claims to only let through the good ideas while smothering the bad. Any smart person knows this (John Stuart Mill was even saying it in one of his books last evening).

So we have Madoff's investment strategies (which are likely not only relegated to Madoff), and we have Daschle's tax filing strategies (to name just one, although I think there are more). Representatives from Wall Street and D.C. acting this way, and then you hear about some guy or gal who knocked over a C-Store for $187.00 because he/she was down on their luck (or even just short-term, quick-buck greed). What we do with the Madoff and the Daschle seems quite a bit different than what we do with a C-Store robber.

And these comments of mine aren't suggesting some kind of Marxism, or whatever. Union bosses invariably turn into the tyrants they claim to thunder against. We know that from F.A. Hayek, or Stalin if wanting to get a dose of reality instead of Hayekian theory. Yet if we go full-tilt with U of Chicago Friedman Economics, it seems the Madoffs start turning out.

It seems a paradox of humanity, and the best way we can limit incredible suffering seems to be educating others to embrace the idea that they do, in fact, have a will. But philosophical attempts and pedagogical theorizing make for poor political campaigns and policy. So never mind what I just said.

MFT:
Crooks exist everywhere. The banker Madoff is a great crook. He is also, by the way, a very Leftist great crook. Look at his politics, and look at his thriving precisely in the highly regulate environment of the SEC--which he simply coopted by bringing his boys into their system ["Yet if we go full-tilt with U of Chicago Friedman Economics, it seems the Madoffs start turning out" is frankly nonsense. Crooks can thrive under a great variety of conditions, but they seem to do best when the lawabiding, by being so, are at a singular disadvantage. The more laws and regulations to abide by, the more concentrated the power behind those laws, the greater the advantage of the crook. And Madoff is a fascinating example of that].
Being adept at playing the financial game is a talent independent of your views on the desired level of State power and the level of coercion you wish to found to bind the people to your will. Look at another great Crook, Soros, set up by the NKVD after WWII and sent to London out of Hungary in 1947, a prima facie example. The Mafia are a bunch of crooks. The lads at AIG, building golden toilets while they bankrupt the company, are a bunch of crooks, and so on. The Chicago School that is at issue here is not Friedman's free market and monetarism, it is Da Chicago Machine.
Five points for reflection:
[1] Crooks are just that, thieves, they take what ain't their's and makes them theirs. And in general, in a stable and free society, not yet corrupted into confusion as to the basic notions of morality, crooks are criminals, not heroes, and are punished, not lauded or protected. So how can a smart crook stack the deck in his favor?
[a] He can deliberately seek to corrupt society to spread moral confusion
[b] He can ally himself with those men of politics who seek great, or even absolute, power.
[c] He can ally himself with those men of politics who are comfortable, even enthusiastic, in taking what's not theirs and making it theirs.
[d] What has happened, and usually does happen, all three come together in a single political entity which outthugs all rivals.
[2] Madoff, the Spencer [?] Group, Citicorp, the guy skimming off 1$ from every account at Citicorp, Tony the Tuna making sure competitors learn not to compete for that sacred Chicago cement industry, Raoul robbing the 7-11 for a fix to cash to fend of the Salvasutra money lenders. They are all crooks. And they are by themselves NOT the problem. They are the Symptom, their flourishing is a symptom, of a society whose moral, intellectual, political immune systems are collapsing. The proportion of big to small measuring the degree of that collapse.
[3] Again, crooks are everywhere possible, all places and all times among all men. What matters is the health of the surrounding society. And that health has been compromised, and it may be fatally so, by the development of an "elite" who has abandoned all caring for the ideals of a Free Republic upon which this nation was founded, and has embraced the one great political absolute of the last two centuries; the Socialist State.
The rise of the National and International Socialist States [differing somewhat in degree of power sought, and of course in the catechism of their indoctrination] has always come--if it has come internally-- on a direct assault on a previously weakened yet freer society. And the society it constructs, whether instantaenously authoritarian [e.g Portugal under the NPP, Argentina under Peronism] or totalitarian [e.g Cuba under the Castros, Syria/Iraq under the Baath] or building to it incrementally [e.g England or Holland today], not only make full use of [a], [b], [c], but tie them together {[d] }into coherent all encompassing ideologies which not only create the perfect conditions for such Crooks, but make tham a legit/necessary part of the State enterprise. The more Socialist the State, the greater the role of the Black Market and its racketeers. That a Madoff could do what he did is because people have become acclimatized to trusting State regulators, rather than thinking soberly for themselves, and coopt them..... A symptom, but one not nearly as bad as the disease which made that symptom possible.
[5] It is interesting that on this board the ones who actually got the pleasure of growing up under such a Socialist state, whether the National kind [as I did] or the International kind [as Tecumseh did] are the ones who are most adamant that what our nation is devolving into is precisely Socialism. We know the stench of that beast, and its profound incompatability with human freedom.
Of course if we were like Le Pew, and didn't give a damn about freedom [no, Pepe, the license of the Aristo is not the same as human freedom], and found a robust century of empirical data on socialist systems as oh too boring to study, then, gee, we'd equate Madoff with Lincoln and Lenin with George Washington, and Milton Friedman's free market with Marx's dictatorship of the proletariat. Because, heck, what is reality but an inconvenient truth on the way to the lovely surreal.

AA, I don't have time to respond to everything, but just a quick link: One example of how Dakota is familiar with socialism, or socialism light. Better defined: agrarian socialism.

Our population was never dense enough (this has binary meaning, both intellectual and demographic) to take it to a Daly level. Then again, concentrated populations tend to generate plenty of degenerates. The New World was handy in that it provided a literal "Clean Slate" fore the recently arrived Euro mind (the Native Americans weren't consulted on this).

Anyhow, check out the link I linked you to above. Lemke is just one of them. Another example of the Dakota Local: a friend of mine is swinging by this evening; a friend who's Irish grandfather hailed from and ran against the Chicago Daly Machine. I can't imagine you'd think Dakota is somehow immune from those interestingly and miserable places Dakota Virgilians look at as The Metropolis? All railroads have always led to and been dominated by Urbs in Horto or the Mini Apple...
