Very nice article. One question: what was the basis for differnt folks accusing him of being a "Philistine"??

In lay terms, we might refer to Kingsley as a high-brow complainer (hey, he was a critic). And through his complaints, morons assumed he didn't like culture.

He was a fairly fierce cold warrior as well, contra Stalin and his game plan -- not a real trendy thing to do around Oxford.

It's appropriate to have a bloody bull in his name. At least I do around here.
