If it's not the Crusades, it's the cartoons.

I had given up on Steyn a little. Seems he's back in form.

Thanks, JJ. I'd also lost track of Steyn for a while, but good to see he;s back in form. His close encounter with W seems to have rejuvenated him.

25 percent of the population are always against the war -- any war. That sounds about right. And it's a bit disturbing. To be sure, if Canadian storm troopers were swarming across the 49th Parallel or Bahamian warships were firing off the coast of Florida, some of that 25 percent might change their mind.

Not Pepe, no siree. He will stick up with anyone dissing Amerikkka, no matter what. Anti-americanisme primaire defines the Socialist left in France, more than anything else. It's even more ingrained than sharia law for muslims -- basoically, a form of superstition, no need of rational thought anymore.

Too many of us are only good at enjoying freedom. That war-is-never-the-answer 25 percent are in essence saying that there's nothing about America worth fighting for, and that, ultimately, the continuation of their society is a bet on the kindness of strangers -- on the goodnaturedness of Kim Jong Il and the mullahs and al-Qaida and what the president called "al-Qaida lookalikes and al-Qaida wannabes" and whatever nuclear combination thereof comes down the pike. Some of us don't reckon that's a good bet, and think America's arms-are-for-hugging crowd need to get real. Van den Boogaard's arms are likely to be doing rather less of their preferred form of hugging in the European twilight.

Who are the pinko-lefties gonna hug? As JJ was saying in another post, this sounds like a scene from Deliverance, more than anything else.

AI,AI,AI! Here AA posted that article including the quote from that buggered guy. For you to have missed this is inexcusable. Everyone a blogspot knows you are ideological twins with AA. For you not to have mentioned that this stuff you quoted has already been posted is worse than a "LATE".
No, you're back down a bottle of VCP.
Sorry, Coanda.

JJ, JJ, JJ -- of course I quoted (from memory -- there is no serach feature in this space!) something I read in a previous blog:

As JJ was saying in another post, this sounds like a scene from Deliverance

My only failure was that I could not remember for the life of it who said it, so I said it was you, as a default value of sorts. NO VCP for you, no siree.

Mr roT said...

It's spelled serac. Jeez. That's another VCP, I'm afraid.

Cheney and Rummy and all the minor supporting warmongers down to yours truly were suddenly vaporized in 20 seconds' time. What then?

Nothing, that's what. The jihad's still there. Kim Jong Il's still there

Cheney and Rummy haven't been vaporized and the jihad's still there, KJ is still there. Why ? Because nothing done by this administration, and certainly not its silly "wot" does anything to address these issues. There is no mechanism by which the iraqi war will get the world rid of jihad: the US is just flapping its wings aimlessly hoping that, in doing so, all the bad guys will vanish. What better evidence of that than the continuing disaster in Mesopotamia which has so far brought nothing to the iraqis other than a govt controlled by shiite militias?

And they look at the dems and say "my, you aren't flapping YOUR wings ? Surely you must be on the side of the terrorists".

not to be flippant but I believe the "primaire" adjective refers to a propensity to retort exclusively in a "typical pinko lefty rhetoric" mode, without further substantiation (ad-hominems don't count either).

Steyn doesn't say that nonsense. That's AI. Steyn also doesn't write stuff (that I repeat here) that's just a "button-push" as you might put it.

Yes, AI, and no doubt Michael Moore will bask in the warm glow of the praise of his "purty mouth"

well, ok. at least that was my initial intention.

What's non-sensical in what I said? Care to elaborate, JJ? Eg, is it your contention that the Socialist Left in France (well, if you accept the premise that that's not an oxymoron) is not anti-American? As for Anti-americanisme primaire, that was a pefectly legitimate take-off on an oft-repeated mantra of the French gauchistes from the 70's-80's, when they would treat the slightest critique of the Soviet system (which of course the pinko left worshipped as a sacred cow) as anti-Communisme primaire. Capisci, now?

Ah, I'd forgotten about the Primaire elocution. Thanks for the reminder, AI. That is worth a glass of port or two.

AI, "pinko-leftist birkenstock Mao, Pol Pot..." paraphernalia.
