Steyn asks a direct question

“The American people were solidly behind this when you went in and you toppled the Taliban, when you go in and you topple Saddam,” columnist Mark Steyn said to the president. “But when it just seems to be a kind of thankless, semi-colonial, policing, defensive operation, with no end — I mean, where is the offense in this?”

One guy asks if enough is being done. Here in the WSJ some guy is talking about 400k troops!
Sounds like the kill Rumsfeld guys were right. But it was so much fun watching him abuse the Euroweenies!

What perhaps he should have asked is just how Bush thinks he can win in Iraq while refusing to confront the Iranians and Syrians who are so strongly behind all the mess in Iraq.

Not a question for Bush, AA. We're too infiltrated by '60s throwbacks (and Bush has given them a new breath of life, I'd say) to ever have the national will to break the backs of a couple third-rate players like that.
WWII killed Europe, but us too.

For example, terrorists cause chaos in Iraq with a goal of making it appear to Americans that our military is wasting time, lives and effort over there. The mirror of that result comes when Democrats intentionally disrupt American efforts by portraying our soldiers as criminals. Don't they realize that Iraqis will see these comments and will ultimately come to believe that they are wasting time, lives and effort by cooperating with us?

if it wasn't for the media, fraydom bells would be a-ringin'!

even assuming a lack of ability on the part of the iraqis to discern criminality in abu-grhaib perpetrators and teen-rapists on their own, the type of scapegoating whereby it is the press, not the military or the command's failures that is responsible for this disaster is farcical.

Fortunately, this is finally dawning on a majority of your compatriots, and pointing at the press, the democrats, the dog that ate the map of baghdad or the infavorable phases of the moon is just going to hasten this administration's downfall and, if the democrats are able to showleadership, a long-awaited pullout.

On this long-awaited pulout you envision, Pepe. How many boat people are gonna come out of it? Will you America-bashers wring your hands in impotent distress for the little children and then smugly say,"not our fault"?
There's an idiot lives a couple blocks from here that says Pol Pot was our guy! Hilarious.
He must mean by 'our' Noam Chomsky's.
