The whole argument is a non-sequitur: even if the impact of religion on humanity were unquestionably positive, that would have no bearing on the reality of the existence of god. The absence thereof is the only atheist(ic?) claim.
Pepe, something is definitely a non-sequitur alright. Try your answer. Where in the article is there anything about offering an argument on the existence of god? Or even the question (of the existence of god) even being asked? Or of making a claim as to what is "the atheistic claim"?? Try reading the article again, this time with a curse on your lips
You're right... It's already occurred to me that i shouldn't jump on the keyboard first thing after waking up to argue or shout obscenities at you people. Confusion peaks at that time...
