Ministry of Truth At Work

Of course. Afghanistan was never Buddhist. Persia was never Zoroastrian. One day, soon enough, Europe was never Christian. Then, not too long after, America was never Democratic.
Islam solves all problems.

I wonder what historic preservation legislation looks like in Iran...

About what their buddies did to the big buddhas in afgh.

I guess they'll put the kurosh on this too.

OK, sorry.

I remember Cyrus Vance used to be Jimmah's Sec of State. Of course, he was pathetically weak -- in particular, undermined the Shah, and actively pushed for the Ayatollah to gain power in Iran. We've been reaping the bitter fruits of that policy ever since. One more bitter irony how the very tomb of Cyrus (after whom I imagine Vance was named) is now being considered for obliteration by the heirs of the Ayatollah.

I think the UN preservationists should go apeshit.

When pinko shibboleths collide, the strong horse wins. That's my prediction.

Of course you're right. When there's a weak horse and a strong horse, the UN chooses to make the weak horse the strong horse.

Or something like that. Have I got it wrong?
