Iowahawk on Ted Kennedy's Exit Strategy

Here.

{Ed.] This needs a relevant picture. An Olds would be too trite. A Mustang convertible not appropriate, dixit JJ. OK, how about a VW?

Update:

the department spokeswoman declined to say whether administering a sobriety test to an apparently impaired driver and issuing tickets at the scene were standard policies.

Nahhh -- just a pat on the back, that's all! Look, I got a ticket for stepping by a foot on the yellow line while making a left turn (!) Hey, if it was Pat K., the cops woulda have apologized profusively...

man y'all are giving this story the same attention as if he'd raped and killed his 2 teenage daughters.

Evidently, you don't live in a state where a Kennedy is elected Congressman or Senator for life, and stays there even if he were to kill his daughters, or something. Speak of banana republic!

At any rate, let's focus on the practical. Somebody surely is gonna make some pretty money out of this. Here's a conjecture, to start the ball rolling. Any others?

The claim that he had consumed no alcohol is pretty preposterous, since a waitress at the Hawk & Dove, on Pennsylvania Ave. a few blocks away from the Capitol, reported seeing him there having a few drinks earlier. This being a Kennedy case, I think we can safely assumed the waitress in question will shortly have a lapse of memory. Right before she goes out and buys a Ferrari.

You have a point, Pepe. Massachusetts residents only have the Kennedys and the Red Sox to follow, locally. The Red Sox are sublime, of course, with Schilling on the mound, and so for scandal we rely on the Kennedys. Think of New Orleans without jazz. Only thing there would be left is Edwin Edwards and his descendents.

By the way, these comments must belong to another post. Iowahawk doesn't mention Pat K. Learn to click on things, AI.

We must have a half-dozen open threads devoted to this burning issue -- hard to know where to post. When in doubt, I guess I'll post on the latest thread, even if not the most relevant, on the theory that chances are greater that someone like JJ will notice it has been updated...

Powwww!

Dying for attention, the schoolboy acts out in inappropriate settings.

Wonderful addition to the post, AI. I remember seeing this somewhere but can't remember where. It might have been the National Lampoon. Do you know the origin?

Tecumseh said...

Yes, this is from the National Lampoon, from the early 1970s. When a law suit was threatened by VW, NL ran the following retraction: "Even if Ted Kennedy had driven a Volkswagen, he wouldn't be president today."

Q: What did Teddy Kennedy say when asked if he would consider ever running for President?

A: He said he'd have to drive off that bridge when he got to it.

Wonderful.
