It was almost unbelievable to hear that someone would attack, of all people, the pacifist, non-proselytizing, keep-to-themselves Amish.

It appears this nut had a two decade old grudge he believed was too significant to let go:

"The police said there were indications that he was motivated by an incident that happened some 20 years ago, but refused to go into details."

that would have been nice i suppose, but this would have probably never taken place if it wasn't for all the media hype around columbine.

Michael Moore is just like Bill O'Reilly: they think some type of Gilded Age existed before the emergence of, for Moore, Corporations, and for O'Reilly, Liberals. Beware of romantics, and, as this story indicates, people who can't let a grudge go.
