On a whim, I bought today a bottle of 10-year old Tawny Port. I have no idea how the stuff tastes, but I figured it can't be bad. Anyone has any idea on the subject? Also, what does it go with -- anchovies and olives, perchance?
Hard cheeses such as Cheddar, Double Gloucester, Red Leicester, Spanish Manchego and Portuguese Ilhas.
That's an idea! I've had most of those cheeses -- including Manchego only recently (it was quite good). Never heard of Portuguese cheese -- does it make past borders?
AI, I don't drink the stuff unless AA puts a glass directly in my hand, but my cousin informs me that it's good as an after dinner drink. From the little I know of it, it sounds as though you're on the right track with the good hard cheeses.

I tried it this evening, after dinner -- it's very good. No need for cheese or anything. Quite creamy and tasty, yet with a tinge to it.
