Good story, and I'd agree that central Asian infrastructure could use a boost so toilets could handle toilet paper. Then again, I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to use the pit toilets, crude variations on the outhouse?

There is an added problem with that design: it tends to attract flies. Do you like them swarming underneath, while taking care of nature's urges?
