Paterson is calling this a "miracle" - simpleton wants to see divine intervention rather than good training on the part of the pilot.

Americans aren't really all that different from muslims in perpetually seeing the hand of the good lord to explain a course of events that any sentient being would understand as being the result of skill combined with luck.

That your beloved rubes are naturally inclined to jump at the divine perspective is one thing, but it isn't the role of the governor of one of the few civilized states to disseminate such idiocy.
