I'm surprised that a team of two would have tried such a climb, particularly in winter. Obviously, he was very good at what he did. But someone [yes, older and wiser], should have taken him aside, slapped him across the noggin', and tell him to start respecting the difference between a brave challenge and vain recklessness. Yes, sad.
After climbing Mt. Everest, an ascent of Mont Blanc from Chamonix must have seemed trivial to this young fellah -- I mean, there are Frenchies all over the place there, traipsing around, how bad can it be? Well, Mother Nature is not amused, oftentimes, and slaps you right back over the noggin', just like that.

Someone threw the Gauntlett down
Evidently. Should've stuck to the longer routes. Sad.

Noggin'? Racist.
You do have a one-track mind, JJ. Well, two-track.
