No more Mr. Neanderthal

Says Condi, chanelling Dominique. So OK, Foggy Bottom=Quai D'Orsay, what's new about that? But, how about W, is he getting wobbly, too?

omagawd!... i thought these colors NEVER run!

perhaps after 3 years of catastrophic failure at everything started, w has learned something? Like that he isn't likely going to fuck it up more badly with diplomacy?

He is no more likely to not "fuck it up more badly with diplomacy" than did Chamberlain or Kissinger.
Now, how do you say "Nous sommes tout l'Islamicists maintenant" in a plaintive and appropriately cringing tone?

Plaintive tone? Sounds like an exultant tone to me. The tough time America has in standing up to this aggression -- in no small part due to the constant carping and sabotaging from the usual suspects -- is to be savored by those who think Amerikkka is the source of all evil. So, AA, I don't see a cringing tone here, just jubilation.

Jubilation, certainly, on the part of those who are banking on the Red&Green. I was referring to that element within Western politics, American politics, and this administration which over the last two years has become more insistent that accomodation and appeasement are the tried and true methods.
Hey, they are bravely willing to bet our lives on it. That must give them some cred, eh?

AI, I suspected before the move into Iraq that W was already "getting wobbly", or, perhaps better, was losing some measure of courage, or clarity, or both. JJ may/may not recall, but we actually discussed this before the move into Iraq began...I also suspect that, in a sense, he "winged it", simply hoping it would somehow work out naturally, and relatively painlessly, to some end he could politically live with. There is a lot here to be explored and debated, but I do think that before we moved in to overthrow Saddam the administration had already discarded any notion of seriously trying to carry out the "wolfowitz" plan. Why, is one good story. To what effect, unfortunately, is a story unfolding before our eyes.
Yeah, I admit I could be dead wrong about all this....But, through the events of the last four years, it is an "insight" that has stood me well in surmising "what comes next" with Bush and his policies.
En fin, Bush est le fils de son pere....dommage

Well, how about the Second Inaugural Address? Stirring words. How 'bout some action to match?

It was a good speech for sure. The most commie Italians in Cambridge I know said it was inspiring. If it's all talk, that would be a shame.

Still, Condi isn't yet throwing in the towel and there's a big weapon test I think this weekend that should send islamists worldwide running Mugabe's $476-a-square toilet paper.

We'll see. I heard an analyst say in the Winter that Israel and US are striking in the spring.

I hope he didn't mean the wets today.
